Biography

Nathan Halverson is a Bay Area journalist who covers the economy, banking, and technology for The Press Democrat newspaper in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Halverson graduated in 2004 from the University of Minnesota with degrees in Economics and Journalism. Two years later he joined The Press Democrat, which is a New York Times Co. newspaper that covers the North Bay.

In 2006, he won a first place Business Writing award from the Associated Press in California for an article detailing two Solano County men who received cash settlements by filing hundreds of lawsuits against small businesses under the Americans With Disabilities Act.

In 2009, he won a first place Feature Writing award from the Associated Press in California for a profile of Tim O'Reilly, founder of tech-publishing company O'Reilly Media.
